Not the internal detox (all though that is also important) but beauty detox. Our personal care process each day involves multiple products with multiple ingredients, some not so kind to the skin, body and environment.
We can potentially be applying hundreds of irritating ingredients onto our skin and even ingesting them daily. So I have 3 products we all use at least twice day which you can switch out right now to non toxic. I find these 3 are really simple to start with and will have the biggest impact on the quantity of toxins we are exposed to. This is because we use these so often and they are designed to penetrate the skin. As opposed to something we use less often and sits on top of the skin.
The best part is there is really no compromise as the non toxic options, in my opinion are so much nicer, kinder and in addition to our own wellness benefits, these brands are owned by small local business which really really really appreciate every order big or small.
This is not just about fluoride, it's about all the other toxic ingredients used as anti-bacterias, flavours, colours and preservatives.
Using Xylitol a beautiful plant ingredients dentists love, along with real essential oils - this is all I use now and love it.
We also love Grants Toothpaste for a more affordable option.
Ok soap box moment - Just make the swap, its so much better for you and applying more than once a day is a small compromise for allowing my body to detox naturally by sweating and not using these toxic ingredients daily. Natural deodorant's use ingredients like bicarb, witch hazel and essential oils to kill the odour, bacteria and wick away moisture. Managing your expectations are important as we have been marketed "24 hour dry" this is not going to happen with a natural deodorant and it does not need to. I personally just don't want the odour and once you detox you will find natural deodorants work much better.
I love perfume, but have not used traditional perfume for a while now because it is one of the most toxic products we can use. Not only because of the potentially harmful undisclosed synthetic ingredients but also because of the phthalates (hard to say and spell), which are designed to penetrate the skin and make your perfume last all day, some times longer.
Using essential oil perfumes like Eve is such a refreshing switch, the Camellia oil which is used as the base oil, holds the essential oils on the skin for longer and the mix of real essential oils bring not just a lovely smell, but can have wonderful affects on your mood and emotions.
As with everything, it's best to take it slowly, swapping things as you run out, it's less daunting this way and starting with things you use a lot and often, like these 3 products that are used at least twice a day each.
